The Regions Behind
This Collection
Great wine tells the story of its origin—the soil, climate, and generations of winemaking tradition that shape every bottle.
Willamette Valley
Established 1960s
Burgundian-style Pinot Noir that rivals France
Oregon's premier wine region, producing Burgundian-style Pinot Noir of exceptional elegance.
The Terroir
Oregon's Willamette Valley shares the same latitude as Burgundy and benefits from similar conditions: cool climate, ancient marine sedimentary and volcanic soils, and gentle slopes that maximize sun exposure. The Dundee Hills, with their iron-rich Jory soil, are particularly prized for producing wines of exceptional depth and longevity.
The Tradition
When David Lett planted Pinot Noir here in 1965, experts said Oregon was too cold for fine wine. His 1975 Eyrie Vineyards Pinot placed second against top Burgundies in a 1979 Paris tasting, silencing the critics. Today, Willamette Valley is recognized as one of the world's premier Pinot Noir regions.
