About Barossa Valley

The Barossa Valley is the heart of Australian wine, home to some of the oldest continuously producing vines in the world (many pre-dating phylloxera). German settlers established the region in the 1840s, and their descendants still craft wine here today. Barossa Shiraz is bold, rich, and generous—the antithesis of cool-climate restraint. Old-vine wines from the valley floor are among Australia's most treasured. The region also produces excellent Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Riesling.
