Petit Verdot is a dark-skinned Bordeaux varietal prized for its deep color, high tannins, and aromatic complexity. Long harvesting periods mean the grape often ripens late, making it valuable for adding structure and color to blends. When vinified alone, Petit Verdot produces concentrated, age-worthy wines with flavors of dark fruit and floral violet notes.
