About Côtes de Provence

Côtes de Provence is the largest appellation in Provence and the epicenter of the global rosé revolution, producing over 70% of its wine as dry, elegant rosé. Stretching from the Rhône delta to the hills above Saint-Tropez, the region benefits from over 2,800 hours of sunshine per year and the cooling influence of both the Mediterranean Sea and the Mistral wind that sweeps down from the Alps. The terroir is remarkably diverse, with crystalline schist and granite soils in the east giving way to limestone and clay formations in the west, creating distinct sub-zones including the prestigious Sainte-Victoire, La Londe, Fréjus, and Pierrefeu designations. While rosé dominates, the region also produces compelling red wines from Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, as well as crisp whites from Rolle (Vermentino), Clairette, and Sémillon. Provençal rosé has become a global lifestyle symbol, but the best examples from Côtes de Provence offer genuine complexity, minerality, and food-pairing versatility that transcends trends.

Visiting Côtes de Provence

One of France's most scenic wine regions, combining Mediterranean beaches, lavender fields, and hilltop villages. Saint-Tropez, Aix-en-Provence, and Cassis serve as excellent bases. Many estates offer tastings with sea views, and local cuisine—bouillabaisse, ratatouille, socca—pairs perfectly with the wines.
