What is Marsanne?
Marsanne is a northern Rhône white grape that produces full-bodied, complex wines with a distinctive waxy or creamy texture. The grape's thick skins contribute to its richness and oxidative resistance, allowing for long aging. Marsanne displays flavors of stone fruit, hazelnut, and sometimes a hint of herbs or spice. In Hermitage, it creates wines of remarkable concentration and structure. While less aromatic than Viognier, Marsanne compensates with richness, texture, and the ability to age gracefully for decades.
